That is the question of all questions! In short: Beard oil is primarily for caring for the skin and hair. It makes the beard soft and shiny. Beard balm (Beard Balm) usually also contains beeswax or shea butter. It also nourishes, but in addition gives your beard hold and structure.

Yes, absolutely. The itching usually occurs because the skin under the beard dries out (especially during the growth phase). The beard oil restores the moisture the skin needs and soothes irritation. If you regularly massage your beard oil in, scratching will be a thing of the past.

Only if you use too much. A high-quality beard oil consists of so-called "fast-absorbing" oils like jojoba or grapeseed oil. These absorb into the hair and pores instead of just sitting on top. If you use the right amount for your beard length, your beard will shine healthily without looking like an oily sardine.
