Swiss tattoos

Clément Grandjean was born in Geneva and grew up in the Vaud Alps, where he lives today. He earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts and a master's degree in history and art history at the University of Lausanne before becoming a journalist. He is deputy editor-in-chief of the weekly magazine "Terre & Nature" and works as an editor and photographer for Swiss and foreign media.

This book presents a selection of tattoo artists and asks: “What makes Swiss tattoos so special?” Special skills in graphic design, an openness to travel and the international scene or a strong connection to your own country? There is no definitive answer. But an amazing tattoo scene to explore.

Historically, Switzerland is not known as a large tattoo nation. But it is the country of origin of important tattoo pioneers, including the Leu family. Today, tattoo shops dominate the streets of Switzerland: there are more than a thousand, many of which are known all over the world.
