Material and craftsmanship

The blade is made of 1.2210 carbon steel, also known as silver steel, and is hardened to approximately 61 HRC. At Dovo, all surfaces are finely hand-ground in several stages; the black finish and high-contrast decoration give the DIAMANT its distinctive character.

With a full hollow grind, the blade is ground concave and particularly thin from the spine toward the edge. This allows it to respond flexibly when cutting through beard hair and produces the characteristic bright sound of a full hollow-ground straight razor. Olive wood is hard, comparatively water-resistant, and pleasantly warm to the touch.

Usage

Before shaving, strop the straight razor on a leather strop, stretch the well-lathered skin with your free hand, and guide the blade at an angle of approximately 30 degrees without applying additional pressure. Afterwards, rinse the blade with warm water, carefully pat it dry, and leave the razor open in a dry place.
