With clearly defined beard lines, a rounded blade point can make it harder to see the endpoint of the edge. On the APEX, the edge ends at the front in a distinctive 90-degree point. This allows you to work with pinpoint accuracy around contours, sideburns, and dimples, but the sharp corner requires a steady hand and considerably more experience than a round point.

Materials and craftsmanship

The blade is made of 1.2210 carbon steel, also known as silver steel, and is hardened to around 61 HRC. With a full-hollow grind, it is ground concave and particularly thin from the spine toward the edge. This allows the blade to respond flexibly when cutting through beard hair and produces the characteristic bright sound of a full-hollow straight razor.

The hard, dense structure of ebony makes the scales dimensionally stable and resistant to swelling in humid environments. Several sanding stages create the smooth surface. The tang, grooved on one side, supports controlled handling of the razor.

How to use

Before shaving, strop the straight razor on a leather strop, stretch the well-lathered skin with your free hand, and guide the blade at an angle of approximately 30 degrees without applying additional pressure. Work particularly slowly and deliberately with the tip of the square point. Rinse the blade with warm water afterward, carefully pat it dry, and leave the razor open to rest in a dry place.

For beginners, a round point is generally the safer and more forgiving choice; a Spanish point also offers good visibility and precision at the tip, but has a less right-angled contour than the classic square point.
